"Like A Big Pizza Pie"

Today's Friday and for me that usually means watching some vintage movies. Some of my favorite go to classics are anything directed by Frank Capra, a fun musical like; The Music Man or Singing in the Rain, or perhaps a suspenseful Hitchcock film.
When watching a movie what can go better with it then eating a deliciously cheesy pepperoni pizza! However I'm not talking about your generic frozen pizza from the store or even an expense delivery pizza; I'm talking about a homemade pizza with plenty of flavor and fewer,"I wonder what's in this?" ingredients. My mom and I have been making this particular pizza for a while now and absolutely love it! The crust as well as the pizza are made from recipes found over on, Gwen's Nest, a website filled with plenty of delicious recipes, natural remedies, and creative DIYs.
 Look at all those yummy Italian seasonings; oregano, garlic, parsley, fresh cracked salt n' pepper, and plenty of shredded Parmesan cheese...and that's just the crust!
 Next of course comes tomato sauce and a generous amount of mozzarella cheese. Is your mouth watering yet?

And for a finishing touch, one of my favorite parts, the pepperonis! After a quick bake in the oven all that cheese turns into chewy, gooey goodness. The pepperonis get nice n' crispy and the crust is fluffy on the inside,but crispy on the outside...yum! Not only is this pizza mouthwateringly{not sure if that's a word ;)} delicious, it's also weight contentious. When eaten the write way it won't be detrimental to your waist line. :) This recipe is part of an eating lifestyle{not diet} known as THM or Trim Healthy Mama which was created by sisters, Serene and Pearl. Now don't let the name mislead you it's not just an eating plan for moms but for anyone who needs to lose weight and wants to stay healthy! I've had tremendous success with this new way of eating as it has helped me to not only loose a large amount of unhealthy weight but also keep it off! Be sure to check the links out! {I am not being paid to advertise for THM, I just wanted to share this incredible eating plan with you do to my own success with it!}

How do you like to spend your Fridays/weekend? What's some of your favorite classic movies? Have you ever made a pizza from scratch? Please leave your comments below!

Rockin' Boppin'~ A "Vintage" Video

Hello dear readers! So back in May of last year I posted about a little music video I took part in while volunteering for Above Rubies. The post, A "Vintage" Video, features some behind the scenes photos plus it gives the details about the video so be sure to check it out. It was a lot of fun to make but so out of my comfort zone. I prefer to be behind the camera and not in front of it. The music is from an original 1950's song called, "Rockin' Robbin" with words re-written by myself and several others. Hope you enjoy it!

What did you think? Have you ever heard the original song, "Rockin' Robin"? Would you prefer to be behind the scenes or in front of the camera? Please leave your comments below!

What I Wore~ Sunday Style{Vintage Inspired}

Here's what I wore several Sundays back when the weather was still kinda' chilly. Except for the shoes and tights this entire outfit was "thrifted" from Goodwill!

Looking at this photo I wish I had added a necklace...more than likely I was running late{which happens quite frequently} and didn't have time to select and put on the right one! ;)
A simple and slightly messy up do. It's no easy task for me to get my hair back in a bun so I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!
Long sleeve shirt:  thrifted; $2.00
Cardigan: thrifted; $4.00
Skirt: Ralph Lauren{via Goodwill}; $5.00
Tights: gift; free
Wedges: American Eagle{via Payless}; ???{I bought these so long ago I'm not sure how much they were!;)}
Pearl earrings: Claire's; ???{same story}

I absolutely love this cardigan with it's big houndstooth check pattern and big collar! The pattern, collar, and even the big buttons are very reminiscent of the early 60's. It reminds me of the stylish ladies coats and suits from that era. My skirt{kinda'} makes me think of the fuller skirts worn in the 1950's...I even wore a vintage slip which helped the skirt to stand out a bit more.
The top pictures show the big collars{usually trimmed in fur} which were very stylish then and{in my opinion}still are! The two pictures below are of the tailored yet feminine suits from that era; the one on the right is a suit in houndstooth check. I'm hoping to get another outfit post up featuring this same cardigan, except the outfit has a 1930's look to it; stay tuned for it! How about you; do you like to dress in vintage inspired outfits? What I Wore~ Spring Is In the Air

Hello my lovely readers! Today is the first day of spring; I'm so excited that it's officially here! In honor of the day I wore my most "spring" themed outfit and pulled my hair back in a simple braid. It was a beautiful first day of spring with plenty of sunshine and warm temps.; just yesterday it was cloudy, cold, and rainy. So thankful that God gives us spring; each year He blesses us with new life through the beauty of His creation!
Soaking up some sun!
I only noticed my necklace was turned the wrong way after all the pictures were taken! :)
The sun was so bright I had a very hard time trying not to squint as you can see I wasn't to successful in these photos.
If you look closely you can see a train car going by in the background. There is a train track right behind my house; as you can imagine it's noisy but it doesn't' bother me!
Floral print skirt: birthday gift from my aunt{via Belk}
Coral t-shirt: another gift from my aunt{via JCPenny}
Jean Jacket: Gap{via Goodwill}; $5.00
Pink bow flats: Wal-Mart; $5.00
Butterfly necklace: gift
Butterfly earrings: Claires; ???
Pink bracelets: gift{via American Eagle}

Well hope you all had a lovely day and some nice weather too! Did you wear something "spring-y" for the first day of spring? Please leave your comments below!

A Spot of Tea!

A couple of weeks back in my Oh So Busy post I mentioned that I attended a tea party hosted by my aunt. The tea party was in honor of all the ladies who had birthdays in January and February. I happened to be one of those...I turned 21, by the way, on February the 21st! We had such a lovely time; we dressed up, ate yummy treats, we talked{a lot}, and we laughed{even more}. So here are some pictures that I{and my mom} snapped amidst all the fun.
Me and my cousin, Michelle; don't you love her 20's esque hand band? The fur stole I'm wearing belonged to one of my great grandmothers.
My sister, Lydia, and her adorable son{my adorable nephew} in the back ground, up at the top is my Aunt Sherri, she is the one who hosted the party and happens to be my mom's twin, and in the lovely pearls and cameo is my Aunt Rose.
Here is my sweet grandmother with my sweet nephew, Corbitt, napping in her lap and here he is playing with my sister-in-law love, Katie. Note her hair, my nephew loves to play with hair and probably is the "culprit" to Katie's messy hair! ;)
My Aunt Mary went all out wearing a very 20's inspired outfit. Love her hat!
Here's my mom with my nephew; love his little sweater and the bow tie on his onesie! My mom looks like a Russian royal in this hat.
My cousin, Elizabeth, who is wearing a pretty vintage hat; I call this picture, "Modern Meets Vintage"!
"Hello I'm Miss Eliza Doolittle!" My family thought I looked like Eliza from My Fair Lady with this hat and fur stole on! After mentioning that we all broke out in song, singing "Wouldn't It Be Loverly", we sounded pretty good and it was like being in a musical! ;)
Here is the only pic that was snapped of my full outfit; I stole borrowed it from Katie's Facebook! :) My dress is what I wore in my sister's wedding{from ModCloth}, my hat was given by a friend, my gold flats are from Payless, my vintage screw back earrings{which you can't see} I bought at a church yard sale for 25 cents!{I'm very proud of them}and my pink bracelets{American Eagle} were a gift from my mom.
Of course it wouldn't be a tea party without yummy treats and sweets; some tea cakes{in the red tin} and lemon blossoms{on the tray}, both were so delectable and made by my grandmother.
A very delicious batch of brownies; not your typical tea party food!
Now this is closer to what you might see at a traditional British tea; scones with lemon curd and "Devonshire" cream.
And here is something savory; mini quiches and dainty sandwiches. Oddly enough we have no pictures of the pretty tea cups we used, oh wait here we are... some of our teacups air drying, after a good cleaning, in our dish washer! ;)
I hope you enjoyed the photos.
How about you; do like tea parties?
Dressing up?
Or just drinking a hot cup of tea?

Glimpse Of Spring~ A Poem

Hello there dear readers! Here in the south we have been experiencing a few warm spring like days, in fact the daffodils and crocuses are blooming in our garden! While enjoying the lovely weather I was inspired to write this poem. I like to write poems that rhyme and usually find it hard to write poems that don't. ;) However these one doesn't rhyme, so without further ado here it is:

Oh, how wonderful...
To feel the warm sun shine and see the peaceful blue sky;
Watching as little wisps of clouds float by.
To hear the birds chirp their happy little songs,
Heralding in the spring season to come.
To see the strong gusts of wind blow the trees to and fro,
Looking as if they were dancing and rejoicing because of the hint of spring like air.
To smell the daffodils so bright and yellow, as they poke their little heads up,
Stretching, growing, trying their best to get closer to the sun.
However this is just a glimpse for tomorrow may bring back,
The cold, the grey, the clouds of stubborn winter bound to stay.
But oh how wonderful...
To know that soon this little glimpse of spring will be a glimpse no more,
and winter will seem so very far away!

Well now that I look at my poem typed out{instead of scribbled in my notebook} I see that some lines do rhyme. I guess I just can't help it!
Here's a pretty crocus from the garden.

What's the weather like where you live? Do you like to write poetry? Please leave your comments below!
