What I Wore~ Valentine's Day

Hello there! Well I finally have a chance to get these Valentine's photos up! Hope you had a great Valentine's Day; that morning I was delightfully surprised to find our dinning room table decorated for the special day... my mom did it while I was sleeping. ;) Vintage postcards, red tulle, hearts, and cupid candle holders adorned the table which made for a very pretty and romantic table setting!
I made some heart shape chocolates; some filled with peanut butter...yum!
My mom and I had to run into town and while shopping it wasn't an uncommon sight to see men carrying balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, and chocolates! It was sort of funny seeing some of those big men carrying pink and purple stuffed animals! :) Anyway here's what I wore for the special day to celebrate love...
You can still see some of the snow{mentioned in this post} in the background!
If you're wondering what's up with these shots...my mom and I were messing around with the "continuous shooting" setting on the camera; I thought I would try jumping up and down to see how well it worked. Haha, I think I might need a little more practice with taking a good photo while jumping! ;)
This was another one taking with that setting.
I wanted a close up shot so you could see my Eiffel Tower earrings; want could be better for Valentine's Day than wearing the famous landmark from the "City of Love"?!
And here is another Eiffel Tower and a heart charm! The bracelet was made by a friend and given to me at Christmas a few years ago.
It was so much taking these photos and I even got my mom to pose for the camera...she doesn't like having her picture taken! Don't you just love her scarf?! Not only are the colors fitting for Valentine's day but it also happens to be a Valentino;) scarf she bought on a trip to D.C. My mom owns dozens of scarfs and has collected them for years...love them all! Love my mom and her elegant style!

"Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."    ~Matthew 22:36-39~

Oh So Busy!

I just wanted to write a quick post to let you know that I've been oh so busy this past week; babysitting, going to parties, shopping, and such that I haven't had a chance to write a proper post! Hope to soon have some outfit posts up including what I wore for Valentine's Day and to a tea party my aunt hosted for all the ladies in my family. I have a lot I want to post about and hope that you will stay tuned for when I do!

Love in Christ,
Just thought you might enjoy a pic I snapped of this cute little guy playing in some balloons. ;)  While my nephew was spending the night he asked me to walk into the living room and see if any one was watching me...and this is what I found. Hehe, looks like something a minion would do!

The Fruit of Her Hands

Well today is a red letter day for my mom and me...why you may ask...because we opened an online store! Yippee! This is something that we have wanted to do for a long time. My mom and I decided at the beginning of this year we should try to make some money on all the stuff that she and I{mostly her} have been collecting throughout the years. Well today while waiting out the bad weather that we've been getting here in the south I finally got our store, The Fruit of Her Hands, open and running! The name is taken from Proverbs 31:16, "She considereth a field and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard." We will be selling vintage finds and handmade items from cards to pillows...and I guess anything else we decide to create! There is still a lot that has to be done to get it all polished up, but we both wanted to go ahead and open the store anyway.
It has been a lot of fun taking the photos for the store and working on all the technical stuff. Although that has been pretty easy since we are using the website, Storenvy, which is kind of like Etsy. So please check it out! Buy a few things! We are selling some lovely vintage brooches, bed jackets, and a cute wallet made in Korea.
"Black is Best"
"A Dazzling Eyeful"
Two of the stunning vintage brooches we are selling. The names for the brooches were inspired by one of our favorite musicals, Singing in the Rain!

You would look great in this lovely little bed jacket, "A Patch of Blue"!
The pretty little wallet, "Dreaming of the Orient", was made in Korea; must have been made before there was a North and South Korea.

So want kind of projects have you been up to? Let me know what you think of the store?

Love in Christ,

I ♥ Thursday{no.6}

So here is what I've been loving...
Wallace and Gromit; I recently watched three of these smashing British claymation movies directed by Nick Park of Aardman Animations which stars the cheese loving, Wallace, and his faithful friend{who happens to be a dog}, Gromit. If you haven't seen these movies then I highly recommend you do! I grew up watching these short films as well as the feature length film, Chicken Run, also directed by Nick Park and Peter Lord.
The snow; it has been such a joy to see and play in{again}! If you read my post, What I Wore~Playing in the Snow, you will know that the South received another big snow!  I built a "French" snowman and named him Pierre. Poor Pierre he melted away...what a short life he had. ;) Wish I had a picture to post of him but they are still on my grandmother's phone.
Into the Woods, a blog filled with adorable, vintage outfit posts and cute DIYs. I recently discovered Alexandra's blog through Bramblewood Fashion and instantly fell in love with it... be sure to check it out!

Well this is just a few things I'm loving this week; what about you? Please leave your comments below!

What I Wore~ Playing in the Snow

This past week the south received another big snow{and ice} storm! Once again I went out in the snow and took some pictures but this time I used my camera I received from my grandfather. It's an old Cannon and uses film. My grandmother and I refer to it as "the dinosaur". It was so much fun to go out again and take pictures of the beautiful winter wonderland! You can see my other photos of the last snow fall here. I can't wait to see how the photos turn out once I develop them...will scan and post them! Since this storm was going to bring a lot of ice there was fear that the power would go out. My mom and I spent two days up at my grandparents house{they have a generator} just in case the power did go out. It never did...praise the Lord! We had such a fun time with my grandparents; playing Uno, watching movies{and eating popcorn}, playing with their cats, and just spending time with them. Unfortunately we forgot to bring the cameras so I'm posting a few outfit photos from the last snow. I was also able to take some{a lot} of photos with my grandmother's phone!

Love the bright cheery colors in this shot!

Purple t-shirt(not pictured): Goodwill; $2.00
Grey sweater(peeking out from the bottom of my coat): from a friend; free
Blue Coat: Old Navy(thrifted from Goodwill); $10.00
Floral print skinnie jeans: Goodwill; $3.00
Pink boots: gift from my mom(Wal Mart); free
Gloves: K-Mart; $5.00
Beret: Wal-Mart; $5.00
Scarf: gift from aunt; free

Obviously I wore a lot of layers, but I also had on a tank top, two pairs of socks, leggings, and some dish washing gloves{yes the yellow plastic ones} under my black gloves! Your probably thinking, "What's with the dish washing gloves?" Well when picking up the snow they help my hands stay dry which means they won't be near as cold! Pretty smart thinking, eh?

What about you; do enjoy the snow? Do you get much of it where you're from?

What I Wore~ New Blue

Thought I would post a few photos to show you my new winter coat I bought at Goodwill. I wanted a black pea coat but instantly fell in love with this pretty blue one my mom found. I'm not very good at posing for photos but I love the way these turned out. Thanks mom for standing in the cold and taking them!

Don't let that sunshine fool ya' it was very cold that day!

These photos were taken the same day as this post. So if you want the details of the actual outfit check out  the post!

Coat: Old Navy(thrifted from Goodwill), $9.52
Black scarf: Dollar General, free...there is a story behind it
Black gloves: K-Mart, $5.00

Okay so I said there was a story behind the scarf and I can't finish this post without telling you! So while picking some things up from my local Dollar General{a few years ago} with my mom, I noticed a display with a bunch of cute scarves priced at $5.00. After selecting the above scarf, we proceeded to check out. Well when the cashier rang up my scarf she said, "That's strange, it only rang up for a penny." She then remembered that the scarf display was supposed to be put away after summer and this was in the middle of fall. That being said the price for the scarf wasn't in their system anymore. Thinking I would have to put the scarf back I was totally surprised when she said that I could have it! My mom asked her if we could go and grab some more; the cashier told us no.{we tried ;)} She then put the scarf in the bag, I told her thank you, and my mom and I were on our way. I know that was God just giving me a special little{big to me} blessing!

How about you, has God blessed you in some small{big} way like that? Would love to hear from you; please leave your comments below!

Getting to Know Me...and You!

Hello there! I thought since I have some new readers I would write a post{also created a page} so you could get to know me a little better. I am a twenty year old young lady who is a grateful sinner to my loving Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm a home school graduate, but spent most of my school years in public school{GASP!} with two years at a private Christian school. So yes I have experienced them all! I have to say I enjoyed my very few years of homeschooling. I am the youngest of four, two brothers and a sister, but I am the only one still living at home. Home is located in the northern part of Georgia; that's right I'm a Southern gal and have lived in this area all my life. However I did live in Tennessee for almost a year while volunteering with the amazing ministry of Above Rubies. I am the proud aunt to one niece and two nephews! I am the youngest of twelve grandchildren on my mom's side{of the family} and second youngest of five on my dad's. I love my crazy, big family and am blessed to have them all live close by.  {Photo by the incredible Rashida of Rashida La'el Photography}

When thinking of a title for my blog I chose, "All Things Vintage" because I thought it would truly reflect who I am. I not only love vintage clothing, cars, and decor; but also adore classic black and white movies, colorful musicals, books written before the 1960's{mostly}, and just the way of life from those bygone eras. My favorite periods in history{mostly fashion wise} are the 1910's, 30's, and 50's.

Other things that I love are traveling especially road trips; actually that's the only way I have traveled from point A to point B. No I have never been on a{big jet} plan, which is something one day I hope to do! That being said I have flown in a little private plan from my town's local airport when I was probably six...but now I am getting side tracked! I've never left the country; I have been 60 miles from Cuba though when I traveled down to Key West for a family vacation. Also I have been just miles away from the Canadian border when visiting relatives in Minnesota. Someday I hope to travel to far away lands like England, Ireland, France{especially Paris}, Scotland, Canada{so that's not really that far}, Israel, Australia, and New Zealand. Of course I would be more than happy to travel to any country that God gives me opportunity to see! I love drinking hot tea{black, green, and herbal teas} and do so almost every morning with the exception of an occasional cup of coffee. In fact while writing this I just finished a lovely hot cup of Earl Grey with plenty of sugar{stevia} and cream. I enjoy photography, mostly nature and inanimate objects being my forte{people not so much}. I love doing lots of creative things from crafting with paper to decorating cakes, from drawing to cross stitches. I've never considered myself a musical person but would love to learn to play the piano or guitar or both. I did play the trombone, yes that great big brass instrument with the long pull-y thingy{maybe it's called a slider}, in my 6th and 7th grade year of middle school. I like to write; poems, in my journal, letters you get the idea, but don't do it enough.

Most importantly though I love Jesus Christ, my rock, my strength, my shelter in the storms, my comforter, my hope, my source of joy, my healer, and my redeemer. If you have made it to this sentence I once again want to say thank you for reading all of this. I hope you enjoy my little corner of the blog world and are encouraged and blessed by my blog!

{Love this image; I think it really depicts how Christ is my hope and my salvation...how in the storms of my life He is the one I cling too!}

Would love to hear some more about you, please leave your comments below!

All Covered with Snow

Last week we here in the south experienced something which was quite a miracle...SNOW! It snowed at least two inches which for the south is a pretty big deal. The snow lasted for about five days which is also quite rare. Now that the last traces of snow are gone I thought I would post a few(actually a lot) of photos I took. Because of course I couldn't resist getting out in it! Thanks mom for letting me use your camera!
{I ask that you would please not copy these images as your own. If you do use one on your blog or website I would greatly appreciate it if you would  post a link to this post as your source for the photos; thank you!
 A room with a view...

Bamboo and snow...what a interesting combination!

Around the neighborhood; I love this one of a near by church!
My mom gave me the idea for the photo's title, "Lantern Waste" and if you're familiar with Narnia you will know why.
How about some fresh...er...frozen lavender?!

When my siblings and I were little this was our favorite climbing tree.
Love all the texture in this photo.

Our neighbor's recently cut down their magnolia tree but I still got a picture of it with the snow on it. ;)

Not even the little birds were spared from the snow!

 All in a row...
I wonder if "The Garden Cafe" is still open?
Seeing all the snow reminded me of this powerful verse,

"...though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18

Well I hope you enjoyed all the photos! What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Love in Christ,
